Hi,

Yesenia just called me and said Eric was actually
quite upbeat today. He said he loved seeing the
photos in the paper of the rally. He said inmates
were chanting “Free Frimpong” (he wasn’t sure if they
were serious or mocking!). She said he got a haircut.
Anyway, it went very well.

Definitly the God of Justice will let justice prevail in Eric’s case. Those behind it shouldn’t think that’s the end as the truth will certainly come out.

After the hearing on Thursday, Eric called me as soon as he returned to the jail. He wanted everyone to know how much he appreciated everyone who came there to support him. He said that the reason he did not look at everyone directly is because if he did he would have started to cry. It took everything within himself not to cry because he so wanted to reach out and hug everyone. But he said he had to remain strong inside the court room and not look at us.

He also wanted to know if everyone likes his new haircut!?! One of his roommates did it for him last week.

    Hi,

I just received a phone call from Eric a few minutes ago. After every conversation I’ve had with him, it always strikes me what an extraordinary young man he is. He wanted to let everyone know that he claims he is at peace at the moment in the SB jail.

Eric wanted to let everyone know that he deeply appreciates your tremendous support. In the courtroom, he was not allowed to make eye contact, but he did have a chance to see his supporters. I let Eric know that about 75% of the courtroom cleared out after he left.

I let Eric know that his support only continues to grow; even among people he has never met.

I also had a chance to read to Eric all the letters off the website. He was really moved to hear all the words of encouragement from all his US and Ghana friends.

    Jim

I want you to know that friends from Ghana are solidly behind you and we believe that the LORD of mercy and justice will get you out of the place.
STAY STRONG AND BE HAPPY FOR YOU ARE ALREADY A VICTOR.

Everyone who visits with Eric in jail, would you please write a few words on this web page to let everyone know how Eric is doing? What he had to say?

    Thanks.

    Butterfly

One day a small opening appeared on a cocoon.

A man sat and watched for the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body though the little role. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gone as far as it could and could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that; at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contact in time. Neither happened in fact the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into the wings so then it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through life without any obstacle, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. We could never fly.

I asked for Strength…And God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom…And God gave me Problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity…And God gave me Brain and Brawn to work/
I asked for Courage…And God gave me Danger to overcome.
I asked for Love…And God gave me Troubled People to help.
I asked for Favors…And God gave me Opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted. I recieved everything I needed.

This poem, “The Butterfly”, was sent to Eric in jail by a friend who had been corresponding with him regularly. This poem has come to symbolize what this is all about. Eric truly loves this poem. We all should read and reflect on its meaning.

    Friends of Eric –

On Saturday, February 9th, we visited Eric in jail. He is truly a remarkable young man. Upon seeing us, his smile was ear to ear. We talked about how he was being treated, his daily activities, his thoughts and his prayers.

He is not angry, he is at peace knowing that this is only a season in his life that he will get through and that there is a bigger plan for him. He knows that the truth will prevail and he will be set free.

He wanted all of his friends to know that he misses seeing and being with each of you and he can’t wait to see you when his is released. He treasures the letters, cards and books of encouragement he receives. These gifts get him through long days and nights. He values the visits and is thrilled that each weekend he gets visitors to bring him news and conversation. He feels blessed to have friends that make time for him.

Please note that when you visit Eric -you may bring pictures, papers, articles – anything that fits into your pocket and can be held up to the glass for him to see.

He fully understands the state of his case and the dental evidence. We reviewed the new trial motion with him and he is looking forward to the hearing later this month.

Please keep writing to him and let him know that he is loved around the World and is in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi, Eric called tonight (Saturday) after two days of his hearing on the new trial motion. He said to tell everyone he is doing well. It didn’t look like he was able to see anyone in the courtroom, but he was able to recall just about everyone in the room. He heard their voices and saw them out of the corner of his eye. It means everything to him to have that support. He is praying for the judge to make the right decision.

  12. Savio be strong. We are praying for you i believe you.
    take care

Eric is at the Wasco State Prison Processing Center. He will be there approximately 90 while they determine where he will serve out his sentence. His mailing address has been posted on the “write to Eric” page of this site. Please write to him.
We have picked an appeals attorney. The appeal will take exactly one year.
Eric played his first soccer game the other day in prison. He scored the only goal of the game and made many friends that day. He said that the place is “scary, a world of frustration, pain, agony and confinement.” We can only imagine!

Eric, although i dont know you, i have been praying for you since i read your story. All i want to tell you is to have faith. Faith is a difficult subject to cover, because it is so personal. Pray always. God is the only person you can trust in times like these. Dont feel limited by the walls of the prison. They can imprison your body but they cannot imprison your mind. You still have the ability to think of great thinks and i believe they will all come to pass one day.
    All the best bro.

I do not love what I read about Eric, laws are made by the people, if those laws do not provide justice, then they are just as useless and helpless as the makers. Even a blind man after careful hearing can tell the truth of this matter. God is not asleep, He would heal his wounds and shelter him when the time and season is due.
